In fact, some employees will see a decrease in their monthly premiums. Read more online …

Empower yourself -- read all the materials, attend the Open Enrollment Fair, and use your online planning tools so that you can make ‘informed choices’ on the benefits that cover you and your eligible family members!

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) Under Review

The AAMC has launched its fifth comprehensive review of the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). An advisory panel of medical education, student, and undergraduate representatives from the United States and Canada has been appointed to conduct the review. The committee is charged with reviewing the current content of the MCAT and recommending changes that are likely to increase its usefulness to medical school admissions committees, while at the same time considering the knowledge, skills, and other characteristics that admission committees look for in applicants. The review is expected to take several years. The "MR5 Committee" will be chaired by Steven Gabbe, M.D., senior vice president of health sciences and chief executive officer of The Ohio State University Medical Center; Ronald Franks, M.D., vice president of health sciences at the University of South Alabama, will serve as vice chair.

100 Years of Flexner

Academic Medicine has put out a call for proposals for a Flexner Centenary issue. Since many of you are involved in educational innovations, conducting educational research and conceptualizing new forms of clinical education, Dr. Irby encourages you to consider submitting 500 word proposals.

The Flexner Report is a book-length study of medical education in the United States and Canada, written by the professional educator Abraham Flexner and published in 1910 under the aegis of the Carnegie Foundation. Many aspects of the present-day American medical profession stem from the Flexner Report and its aftermath.

We have set up a special 100 Years of Flexner Blog for discussion proposals.
